Why replace missing teeth?

Missing teeth will lead to an increasing mal-alignment of other teeth which can then lead to further tooth loss. In addition, missing teeth lead to a decrease in chewing ability, imbalances in bite forces and can impact your general health.

There are obvious problems of poor appearance and loss of self-esteem caused by one or more missing teeth. Dental implants are an ideal solution to this problem as well.

Deterioration of the jawbone where teeth have been lost is also a serious consequence. Since the purpose of the jawbone is to support and anchor the roots of our teeth, once teeth have been lost, the bone gradually and progressively is lost as well! Additionally, removable dentures and partial dentures increase bone deterioration due to the pressure they exert on the bone. The more bone that is lost, the more difficult it becomes to replace the missing teeth. In some cases, bone grafting procedures may be utilized to improve the quantity and quality of available bone for better outcomes.

Therefore, replacing missing teeth as soon as possible is essential not only to your overall dental health but to your overall general health as well.

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

Dental implants are changing the way people live! With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life.

Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants are metal anchors, which act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone. Small posts are then attached to the dental implant, which protrude through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three-to-six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone. If indicated and where possible, temporary teeth will be fabricated while your implants are healing.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Haddad will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. Then, the process of fabricating your new teeth will begin. Whether you need a single crown, implant bridges or implant retained dentures, all necessary restorative treatment will be completed during this phase. Depending on the specific treatment you require, this phase could take from one to four months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Dental Implants preserve the jawbone and prevent further bone loss.
  • Dental Implants restore your ability to chew properly and smile confidently.
  • Unlike dental bridges, dental implants do not require the removal of healthy tooth structure thereby preserving your natural teeth in their current state.
  • Dental Implants have the highest success rate of any implanted surgical device such as orthopedic joints.
  • Dental Implants can be permanent solutions to missing teeth, unlike dental bridges which have a much higher failure rate due to the accumulation of dental plaque in the areas of the connected teeth.
  • Dental Implants are THE state-of-the-art best possible option for most people with missing teeth.
