We Collected This Much Halloween Candy…
As all of you within earshot of our Somerset dentist office may already know is that we did our Halloween Candy Buy Back Event first talked about here.
What everyone reading this right now doesn’t know…wait for it…wait for it…is exactly HOW MUCH leftover Halloween candy we actually collected.
Our 3rd annual Halloween Candy Buy Back Event was an effort to offer Somerset & Franklin Township residents $2 per pound for your leftover Halloween candy, and more importantly – send all of that candy to our troops stationed overseas.
There’s nothing like a little sweet taste of home when you’re away, we all know that!
How Much Halloween Candy Did We Collect?
The buyback event took place November 2nd & 3rd, but people have been dropping off more candy every day since. We are still receiving additional candy donations, and expect to keep collecting packages in the next week or two.
For last week alone – between November 2nd & November 6th we received 65.31 lbs. of leftover Halloween candy!
In addition to the Halloween treats, the team here at Advanced Dental Arts will also be including “thank-you” cards for the troops.
A BIG THANK YOU to Tracy Molinari’s 3rd grade class at Franklin Park School for donating 29lbs of goodies for the troops!
Tracy’s class was also kind enough to make special cards for Veteran’s Day as well.
And we’d like to send out another BIG “THANK YOU” from all of us here at the Somerset dentist office of Dr. Joseph Haddad, to everyone in Franklin Township, and the surrounding communities of Somerset County including North Brunswick, Hillsborough Township, New Brunswick, Princeton, & Bridgewater who donated their leftover Halloween candy to donate to our troops overseas.
If we can all pitch in to boost the spirit or lift the morale of a single Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman, or Guardsman serving overseas – even a tiny bit -maybe we can help make someone smile!
It makes us happy & proud to participate in this small little local effort to help put some of that leftover Halloween candy to good use.
And we want to thank everyone who participated in helping us send this tiny little token of appreciation from home to our armed forces troops currently stationed overseas.
Our buyback event was in larger part related to the Operation Gratitude initiative.
What Is Operation Gratitude?
Operation Gratitude annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas.
Their mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of our Active Duty and Veteran communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for all Americans to express their appreciation to members of our Military.
