Dental Implants: The Permanent Solution to Missing Teeth

Somerset NJ Dental Implants

Are You Struggling With What to Do About Your Missing Teeth?

Missing teeth from your smile can not only be embarrassing, it can actually lower your self-esteem, have a major impact on jawbone structure, and result in major issues with your overall health too.

When you lose even a single tooth this can lead to the teeth that surround it to migrate toward the empty space left by the missing tooth.

This misalignment increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease by offering hiding places for those pesky cavity creeps to entrench themselves.

Our teeth play an important role in speaking, chewing and in maintaining proper alignment of other teeth; and don’t think tooth loss is just something that occurs as we age.

If you do lose teeth they must be replaced to maintain proper function of your mouth. Fortunately, there are options for correcting tooth loss.

At Advanced Dental Arts, Dr. Joseph Haddad offers several solutions for replacing the teeth missing from your smile.

Missing Teeth Treatment Options at Our Somerset NJ Dental Office

If you have any questions about which method might be best for you, just call us at (732) 545-8111 to get the lowdown on our smile improvement options.

These are basically the ways dentists close the gaps in your smile left by one or more missing teeth.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a device used to replace missing teeth that attaches artificial teeth to the natural existing teeth on either side. Dental Bridges either be permanently attached (fixed bridges), or they can be removable.

Dental bridges are a prosthesis consisting of one or more artificial teeth with crowns on each end.

The crowns are placed on the adjacent natural teeth – one on each side of the missing tooth gap in your smile, these adjacent teeth actually anchor the dental bridge into place.

A dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth in a row.

Dentures

Dentures or partial dentures are an oral appliance meant to replace your natural teeth and support the cheeks and lips.

Most dentures are made of acrylic and can be fabricated two different ways.

  • A conventional denture is made after all teeth have been extracted and the tissues (gums) have healed.
  • An immediate denture is fabricated and inserted immediately after the teeth are extracted and the tissues are allowed to heal under the denture.
  • An upper denture has acrylic, usually flesh-colored, that covers the palate (roof of the mouth).
  • A lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to leave room for the tongue.

The thing to remember with dentures is that over time they will wear down and even become loose. Dentures need to be replaced or realigned in order to preserve the natural alignment of your jaw.

For denture wearers, jaw alignment will actually change because of how the bone and gum ridges recede or shrink due to the missing teeth structure.

This is precisely why at our Somerset, NJ dental office Dr. Haddad prefers dental implants as the permanent solution to one or more missing teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are permanently anchored into the jawbone, affording those with dental implants a healthier, more comfortable solution to one or more missing teeth.

In Dr. Haddad’s professional medical opinion, dental implants are the best possible solution for replacing the loss of teeth.

Dental implants restore your ability to chew any and all foods as well as restore confidence in your smile. No loose or ill-fitting dentures, and no need to place them in a cup of Efferdent® by your bed every night.

At Advanced Dental Arts, we are a one-stop shop for dental implants – so there is no need to make multiple appointments at other offices, we do it all right here in our Somerset, NJ dental office.

  • 3D CT Imaging
  • Dental Implant Surgery
  • Bone Grafting (addition of bone where your natural bone is deficient – if needed)
  • Dental Implant Restoration

On average, a dental implant can last up to 25 years and sometimes even longer. Dental implants can also be used to secure a bridge, or even a set of dentures – these are called “over-denture” implants.
